The home of Kent Web Design - www.randrwebdesign.co.uk.
I trawled through many other Kent web designers’ sites whilst designing this website looking to see what they had done, how they had done it and whether it worked. Then I looked at sites for web designers from anywhere. I was looking from various viewpoints including design, quality and content. I looked at web sites from single web designers to worldwide design agencies and from people who obviously didn’t really know what they were doing to web design gurus. I was looking for ideas, I was looking to make sure they hadn’t got anything I hadn’t got, I was looking to see how they described their services.
Sadly what I found was cluttered pages of tiny text offering jargon filled advice, desperate self promotion (fair enough, we’re all trying to sell our services, but at least have some self respect) and questionable testimonials from Mr. Smith of London. The more I looked the more of a blur it all became until finally I thought maybe this isn’t the way to go.
I decided that maybe I should define some principles to guide me through this design. So I did.
- Simplicity - Keep the look and feel simple and uncluttered. Strip out anything unnecessary.
- Honesty - Never promise or even offer anything unrealistic.
- Clarity - Keep the content relevant and understandable.
- Quality - Ensure that every part of the site works as it should.
- Accessibility - Ensure that everybody can use the sight regardless of ability, proficiency and equipment.
This is the result. I’ll let you be the judge of how well I succeeded.
If you believe I did please feel free to contact me by telephone (below), email , use my contact form or even write to me (address below).
If not, then I apologise for wasting your time and wish you luck with someone else. There’s plenty of us out there.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
